Fully Integrated Onboard Avionics Stack
After scouring the internet for a pyrotechnic solution to my rockets, I realized that the only board which could fulfill my needs was my own. ACORN is a fully proprietary pyrotechnic/avionics board which incorporates a pallet of onboard sensors, including a 6DOF IMU, a LORA radio module for ground communication up to 20 km, 3 Pyro Channels, a barometric pressure sensor, GPS, and more...
Thrust Vectoring Rocket Gimbal
A part of an ongoing effort to introduce novel control methods into High-Power Rockets. The Servos on this gimbal are connected to the ACORN board, which commands the angle of each servo based upon the tilt of the rocket. This is done using the board's onboard IMU, which outputs gyroscopic and accelerometer data, and is subsequently used to approximate the response of the servos based upon the PID controller.
Level 2 Certification Rocket/Launch
Jimmy, the J Class Rocket boasting an impulse of 1300 Newton Seconds and reaching a speed of MACH 1.2 flew to new heights! A part of my Level 2 Rocketry certification through NAR, The National Association of Rocketry. The first portion of this being a written test, and a subsequent launch.
ASCE INKY 3D Printed Bridge - Competition Project
The annual ASCE INKY Symposium holds design challenges for participating universities nationwide. This competition required the use of 3D printing to build a bridge which could survive a load test under several constraints. These constraints included size, weight, agreed upon dimension limits, and more. 2nd overall finish and 1st place in Aesthetics and Presentation.
